The current administration is implementing a student discipline philosophy that directly opposes the past philosophy. I created the above diagram that he school uses to depict the two styles, where the current preferred is RESTORATIVE.

After spending 5 months at my Residency site, I was hired by Durham Public Schools to become an Assistant Principal at Lakeview Secondary School. It is the vision of Lakeview's newly-hired principal, Dr. Theresa McGowan, to move the Student Discipline focus from one that is therapeutic versus one that is punitive. After I was hired, I asked my principal for a copy of her "100-Day Plan," so that I could consider how I would buy into and assist in implementing her vision for the school.
